Here’s a recipe to recreate Wendy’s famous chili at home! It’s hearty, savory, and packed with flavors.
Ingredients
•2 lbs ground beef
•1 can (29 oz) tomato sauce
•1 can (29 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
•1 can (29 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
•1 can (29 oz) diced tomatoes (with liquid)
•1 large onion, chopped
•1 green bell pepper, chopped
•1 stalk celery, chopped
•1 package chili seasoning mix (or homemade – see below)
•2 cups water
•Salt and pepper, to taste
Homemade Chili Seasoning (if preferred)
•1 tbsp chili powder
•1 tsp cumin
•1 tsp paprika
•1/2 tsp garlic powder
•1/2 tsp onion powder
•1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
•Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
1.In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
2.Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are soft (about 5 minutes).
3.Add the tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans, and diced tomatoes, along with their juices.
4.Stir in the chili seasoning mix (or homemade spices) and water.
5.Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together and the chili thickens.
6.Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped onions, or crackers on the side.
Enjoy!
